While everyone’s eyes are on the Australian Open we would like to shift our focus to Indian Wells. Now its the perfect time to start planning your visit. The tournament is in March, when winter is still in the air and we are craving a getaway. A few years ago we decided to celebrate our March birthdays at Indian Wells, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions. Some call it Tennis Paradise, others the Fifth Grand Slam - we named it our happy place.
We rented a charming Airbnb with an 80s vibe. It came with an outdoor tennis courts and a hot tub. It was perfect - playing tennis, watching tennis and relaxing in the hot tub at sunset.
The tournament is fantastic - it’s cozy, intimate, yet features world-class tennis. Imagine watching tennis surrounded by palm trees and mountains. We were so close to the players we could see every expression on their faces. Our highlight was Federer. Wawrinka, Venus and many others were there as well.
On our last day we rented a car and drove through Joshua Tree Park. The dramatic and unique nature of the rocks makes the experience extraordinary. U2 named one of their albums “The Joshua Tree” as they were inspired by the tree's resilience and symbolism, which resonated with the themes and emotions of their music.
Finally, if you can spare more time, make a trip to Borrego Springs and visit the incredible tennis club owned by Leah and her husband. It’s definitely on our list for the next visit.
If you decide to go to Indian Wells, feel free to reach out to us for any advice or simply share your experience. We would love to hear all about it !
