Can Tennis help you land a job ?
I moved to NYC in 2009, just a year after Lehman's collapse. It was the city of my dreams but I still had to find a job. The job market was tough, really tough. It felt like nobody was hiring.
Every time I applied for a job, it felt like my resume disappeared into a black hole. The only replies I got were politely worded auto apologies that I wasn't the right fit.
Playing tennis was my break from all the stress of job hunting. It was the one time of day I didn't think about finding a job.
One day, after playing tennis, I chatted with someone I just met on the court. He told me about a new e-commerce startup that was growing fast and was looking for Project Managers. I looked into the company, and sure enough, they were seeking someone with my profile. I applied, got called in for an interview, and was soon offered the job. That marked the beginning of a new chapter.
For me, tennis is more than just a sport. It helped me make friends, network, discover new places in the city. It's how I met Carol. That's why we started AD-IN, to help people connect, play tennis and support each other.
